Load

By Drewid

Load was my first Metallica album. And, to be truthful, it was one of the best musical decisions of my life. Load will get anyone hooked on Metallica. The power, the deep lyrics, the slow melodic tunes, the fast songs, the kick a** cover, everything is great.

My first exposure to Metallica was at my cousins house. The song: King Nothing. I was an uninformed Metallica-hater. I'd rag on my friends, saying "Oh, it's Satan music... it's all the same... it's just noise, not music... that crap doesn't even take talent...". But, not knowing that King Nothing was Metallica, I expressed that the song RULED!!! I looked at the cover of the CD. Metallica: King Nothing. (It was the single.) I made my decision: I would by Load.

Even with fourteen songs on Load, they are all good. How often do you buy a CD because you like one song and find that the rest sucks? A lot of times that's the case. Not often does a band reveal an album devoid of sucky songs. Metallica, with Load, has achieved a masterpiece.
